An elegant and whimsical compendium from Tiffany & Co., thought to have been made and sold in the 1940s. Also known as a "weather station", this sturdy object combines luxury with practicality, belonging to a different era entirely. With its unique copper bronze tone, it makes a very nice addition to a desktop or side table.
This Tiffany & Co. Compendium hails from the 1940s. Also known as a "weather station", this compendium marries practical and luxurious traits, intended to decorate the home. The name stamped across the clock dial is an interesting marker of history, demonstrating a time when it was normal for retailers to contract out the making of such objects to artisans or watchmakers, resulting in these unusual combinations that are unlikely to ever occur today.
The body of this compendium is made of brass, which has aged over the years to give a burnished look. A compass sits on the topmost face, with a clock, barometer, thermometer, and hygrometer on the four sides, for all your weather-related needs. The main cube that houses the compendium is raised from its plinth, giving it an eye-catching and whimsical appearance.
If sold within the United Kingdom, this Tiffany & Co. will be subject to 20% VAT.
